JOB SUMMARY: The Purchasing Manager forms an integral part of the Purchasing function in the achievement of Operational objectives. The role is key to leading the Company forward in securing quality suppliers of materials and components covering price delivering and quality targets. QUALIFICATION: 1. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required: - Bachelor Degree in Business, Science & Engineering or equivalent in related fields - Minimum 5 years of working experience in a Purchasing role and 3 years’ supervisory experience is preferred - Personal computer experience: MS Windows applications with extensive use of MS Word and MS Excel - Being familiar with Marine Supply Chain systems such as ShipServ system, SAP Purchasing Modules as well as related system such as AMOS - Fully conversant with modern procurement and purchasing techniques 2. Communication Skills: - Strong verbal and written communication skills - Good English Language Skills ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: - Manages and Controls all the company’s external suppliers with particular emphasis on the purchase of products and spare parts and ensures completion of all activities within required timeframe - Establishes strategic relationships with key suppliers who are aligned to the company’s needs - Identifies new suppliers where appropriate including discount structures - Foster close working relationships with Shipboard Senior Officers from Deck, Engine and Hotel Dept.s and HoDs of Tech Dept. and Hotel Dept. for all purchasing operations of the raised and approved requisitions - Ensures all purchasing operations in compliance with all company policies and procedures and maintains records of all P.O. and coordinator with related shipboard senior officers and HoDs to forecast demands - Ports logistics arrangement and local customs clearance of spares/stores/provisions in the related countries and areas |
